(NEWS) Audu Ogbeh: Nigeria Earn More Income Through Agro Export...


The Nigerian minister of Agriculture and Rural development Audu Ogbeh, said the nation's non oil sector has increased


with N261.92 billion earnings in the second quarter of the year from Agricultural exports.
Chief Audu Ogbeh who made this know through his representative Bukar Alhassan, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, at the official opening of the Nigeria Agribusiness Resource Centre for Agricultural Investment in Abuja, during the weekend, made mention of the fact that in the 4th quarter of the year 2016, the increase was 82%, with the total earning settling at about N30bn in the year's first quarter.

It was made known by the minister that N3.2bn was achieved from sesame seeds exportation to Turkey, N1.6bn to both China and Canada.
In the first quarter, N3.4 billion and N1.2 billion was gained on the exportation of Soya bean to Russia and Greece respectively. Similarly, N2.2 billion was earned from the exportation of frozen Shrimps and N1.2b was realized in crude palm kernel oil export to Netherland. N1.8 billion made from cashew nuts export to Vietnam, he said.
Destination of the Nation's agro export in the second quarter include Asia, Europe, Africa, America and the Oceanic.


Meanwhile, Carla Denizard, the African Lead Regional Director said the resource centre was established in response to the request by the ministry’s Department of Agriculture and Marketing to bridge the knowledge gap in the sector and enable investors have access to information.
